Speakers: Sanjay Arora Machine Learning applications in industry have exploded in the last decade. While many of the algorithms are old, the availability of cheap and fast compute, cheap storage as well as relevant data, has made it much easier to train useful machine learning models. But what is machine learning exactly? This talk is aimed at people who have heard the term multiple times but are unsure what it means. The talk will not cover the details of algorithms and their applications but will instead focus on the scientific foundations of machine learning.
